April 17, 1899.
G. Beanchi, Esq
Consul General of Italy,
New York.
My dear Sir:-
Your favor of March 13th, enclosing communication dated February 26th, from the President of the Exposition Committee or the National Photographic Exposition, to be held in April and May of this year in Florence, came duly to hand, but in some way became mislaid and hence no reply was made to it. I have thought very carefully over the matter and regret to say that I am not in a position to send to Florence any of the apparatus that was ever turned out for the making of photographs in use, and, consequently, I have none of it at hand. In fact, it is constantly in use taking new subjects. I assume this is about what they want, but I cannot, of course furnish them with it, it having been turned over to one of my companies in the ordinary course of business.
Regretting that I am not in position to send what is required, and wishing them every success, however, I remain,
Yours very truly,
