This notebook covers the period January-May 1880. Most of the entries are by Francis Upton. There are also a few entries by Edison. The first 53 pages contain a record of experimental lamps burning at Menlo Park in January 1880, which was kept by one of the laboratory assistants, possibly Albert Herrick. The remainder of the book consists primarily of calculations by Upton about electric lighting. There are also a few notes and calculations relating to electric meters and a few drawings of lamps, including some by Edison. The label on the front cover is marked \"Record Condensed,\"" \""Lamps,\"" and \""Herrick.\"" The book contains 288 numbered pages.
