This notebook was used by Edison during January 1899. Most of the book contains notes and drawings regarding improvements in cylinder phonograph recording and reproduction. There are also notes pertaining to iron ore milling and to cement. Near the end of the book are production estimates for a proposed cement plant and the draft of a speech given by telephone to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The pages are unnumbered, and several pages have been removed from the book. Approximately 180 pages have been used.
