Description

This notebook covers the period February-March 1903. All entries are by Edison. The book contains notes and drawings pertaining to various experimental projects, such as the hardness and composition of phonograph cylinders, x-rays, etheric force and \"xyz rays,\"" and storage batteries. There are several pages of notes relating to the use of motograph cylinders for the amplification of recorded sound, with a specific reference to the work of Daniel Higham. Also included are notes regarding Edison\'s theory of matter, electricity, and the ether, as well as scattered drawings of recording and reproduction apparatus and phonograph horns. A notation from April 1903 indicates that some of this material was recopied into a \""big book\"" (Miscellaneous Notebook, E-4297). Inserted into the book is an undated note from John F. Ott concerning the manufacture of storage batteries and other matters. The pages are unnumbered, and several pages have been removed from the book. Approximately 60 pages have been used.
