Title

N-19-09-09 (1919)

Description

This notebook is a continuation of N-19-08-26. It was used by Edison in September 1919. Included are descriptions of numbered electrolytic and chemical preparations, some marked \"Ford\"" if they appeared promising for use in starter batteries for Ford automobiles. One entry relates to tests with parchment for the starter battery. Another group of entries, entitled \""L Ott Experiments,\"" focuses on plating experiments for starter batteries and possibly for disc record molds. Also included is an entry generalizing about the \""flake plating Auto scheme.\"" In addition, there are notes on a series of experiments on separating nickel flake, along with experiments on copper and nickel plating for battery cells. There are also occasional entries referring to work on perfecting disc record molds and blanks, as well as to improvements on electrolytic cleaning of record masters. At the end of the book is a list, transcribed and amended from N-19-08-26, of experiments in progress or finished as of August 27, 1919. The entries in this book again reveal the convergence of Edison\'s work on battery and disc record manufacture in terms of electroplating. The notes indicate that Adolph F. Gall, Frederick P. Ott, and Ludwig F. (Louis) Ott assisted Edison. Inserted into the book is a communication from Elmer E. Dougherty about work in progress. The front cover is labeled \""Very Important\"" and \""No 4 General Book Sept 9 1919.\"" The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 100 pages have been used."
