This notebook was used by Miller Reese Hutchison during March-May 1911 for experimental notes on battery cells for submarines, along with other cell tests. Included are entries on \"explosion experiments\"" to determine how to prevent the explosion of gases from the cells. Also included are experiments with the oxidation of nickel to ascertain the best method of rendering the grids of Edison cells dielectric. One entry contains a list of suggestions from Edison regarding the preparation of dielectric nickel. There are also notations by Hutchison concerning Edison\'s comments and suggestions about his work. The front cover is labeled \""Experiment Submarine Cells M R Hutchison Edison Laboratory\"" and \""501.\"" An index appears on the flyleaf. The book contains 150 numbered pages, many of which are blank, followed by approximately 30 unnumbered pages. At least one page has been removed from the book."
