This notebook was used by Elmer E. Dougherty during January-August 1920. The entries pertain to the analysis and preparation of various chemical compounds, particularly for storage batteries. Included are tests of chemical samples from the Edison Storage Battery Co. plant at Silver Lake, New Jersey, along with tests of electrolytes. There are also experiments relating to chemicals used in the manufacture of disc records. Several entries contain comments, including transcriptions of Edison\'s notes, that indicate a collaboration between Dougherty and Edison on some of this work. The book has been used in both directions. The pages at the front are numbered 1-109; some pages are blank. The pages at the back are inscribed C-Z and A1-Z1; these pages are followed by approximately 25 additional pages without inscriptions.
