Description

The dated entries in this pocket notebook are from December 1913 and January-March 1914. Some of the entries were made at Edison\'s winter home in Fort Myers, Florida. The book was used to record ideas about business matters, experiments to be tried, and other tasks to be performed. Some of the items have been crossed out. Included are technical notes relating to disc record blanks, film developing machines, electromotographs, and batteries. The business-related entries include notes and calculations on phonograph and record sales, production numbers for records, phonograph demonstrators, advertising for phonographs and kinetophones, a new kinetophone plant, and copyrights for disc recordings. Also included are statistics on orders for discs, along with notes on musical selections and recording artists.

Among the numerous Edison employees mentioned in the book are Carl H. Wilson, vice president and general manager of Thomas A. Edison, Inc.; William Maxwell, second vice president and head of the Phonograph Dept.; Walter H. Miller, head of the Recording Dept.; Harold H. Smith, chief of the Battery Research Dept.; and Sherwood T. (Sam) Moore, one of Edison\'s principal assistants in the development of disc records. The flyleaf is inscribed \"Ent final April 28 1919.\"" The pages are unnumbered. Approximately 125 pages have been used."
