Description
This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the commercial and technical development of motion pictures. Many items concern the Klondike Exposition Co., which was organized to make a filming expedition to the Yukon to produce films suitable for display at the Paris Exposition of 1900. Included is an undated memorandum in Edison's hand regarding the imperfect quality of the negatives produced. Other documents pertain to Edison's suit against William N. Selig and to the proposed sale of Edison's motion picture business to the American Mutoscope and Biograph Co. Among the correspondents are William E. Gilmore, vice president and general manager of the Edison Manufacturing Co., and James H. White, manager of the Film Department.
Approximately 90 percent of the documents have been selected. The items not selected include duplicates and drafts of selected documents.
