Title
[D8020-F] (D-80-20) Electric Light -- General
Description
This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the commercial introduction of the electric light and to technical aspects of electric lighting and power, such as the design of lamps and generators and the materials to be used as filaments. Some of the correspondence deals with the lighting plant for Henry Villard's steamship, SS Columbia, and with the search for cane to be used as a lamp filament. Related material about the application of electric power to mining can be found in D-80-32 (Mining -- General).
All the documents have been selected except for duplicate copies of selected documents and bills relating to the death of John R. Segredor, whom Edison sent to Cuba to search for filament materials.
