Description
This folder contains correspondence, agreements, and other documents relating to the business of the Oriental Telephone Co., Ltd., which was incorporated in 1881 by Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and others. The company was licensed to sell telephones, primarily in Asia and Southeast Europe. Much of the correspondence is by Edison's associate George E. Gouraud. Some of the correspondence is in the form of cable messages to and from "Noside London," a code name used by Gouraud.
All of the documents have been selected except for duplicate copies of selected documents and copies of cable messages in Letterbook, LM-001 (Letterbook Series).
