Item set
Title
[E1917-F] (E-19-17) Cigarettes
Description
This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to Edison's views on cigarette smoking and the use of tobacco in general. Among the items for 1919 is a letter to Frederick E. Wolf of the University of Wisconsin YMCA in which Edison declines to take a public role in the debate over cigarettes "as it would result in adding very heavily to his mail, and he is too busy to keep up the fight."
Approximately 5 percent of the documents have been selected. Most of the unselected items are requests for Edison's opinion or support or for a copy of his 1914 letter to Ford. These letters received either no answer or form-letter reply.
