Description
The selected items in this folder cover the years 1912-1930 and consist primarily of letters to Mina Miller Edison from her stepson Thomas A. Edison, Jr., and his wife Beatrice Heyzer Edison. The correspondence contains numerous references to the work, health, and travel of Thomas Edison, as well as to his parental role and his troubled relationship with his son. Some of the letters pertain to Edison Jr.'s work on household electric appliances during the late 1920s in a studio in Orange, New Jersey, near his father's laboratory. There are also several letters by Beatrice regarding her husband's illness and hospital stay during the summer of 1922.
Additional letters by Thomas and Beatrice Edison can be found in the Charles Edison Fund Collection. Some of the letters in the CEF Collection, scanned from the microfilm, are now in the possession of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park. These items are so indicated in the document information frame above each image.
