Description
These letters date from the years 1910-1917 and fall into three groups. The first contains correspondence between Jackson, head of MIT's Electrical Engineering Department, and the Edison family concerning Charles Edison's progress as an undergraduate. The second group dates from July 1915 and relates to Jackson's suggestion that the Naval Consulting Board being organized by Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels and headed by Edison should make use of Electrical Engineering Research Laboratory at MIT. The third group consists of letters between Jackson and Charles Edison in 1916-1917 concerning phonograph sound quality and Thomas Edison's experiments on diaphragms. An additional letter from 1916 pertains to Edison's declination of an invitation to attend the dedication of new buildings at the university.
