"The Fire Question." Re rules for running wires adopted by NY Bd Fire Underwriters. Rules will probably be national. "The many fires that have occurred from the arc light have somewhat prejudiced insurance people, and we must suffer in consequence until the superiority of our system is established by practice." An isolated Z dynamo installation in theater in Santiago, Chili. Plant successfully installed in Rio de Janerio for an exhibition. American Electric Light Co. will soon light a Boston bldg. Patent Office has decided agt Boehm in interference proceedings. Borden says to use A not B lamps in large rooms. Thurber & Co. wholesale grocers, have an installation. Merrimack Mills, Lowell, MA has an installation. European Co. looking for factory bldg to make equipment; Batchelor found one at Ivry on Seine. More fr McCarty on Brazilian Exhibition and iso plant. Edison iso plant at Strasburg, Germany in RR depot. Cable fr Johnson wrt Holborn Viaduct and important visitors. Advice on best way to hang lamps. Clarke of Pemberton Mills, Lawrence, MA agrees w/ Borden that A lamps better than B for large rooms. Lamp breakage occurs usually when voltage too high or current irregular.
