Dolores, N. M. Dec. 4, 1900. Mr. T. A. Edison, Orange, N. J. Dear Mr. Edison:_ Dear Mr. Edison :_ Since our last report the following work has been done :- Shaft #15 Sank 26 1/2 ft. Present depth 83 ft. 11 inch. " #16 Depth 111 1/2 ft. Sinking discontinued for reasons given below. " #19 Junk 22 1/2 ft. Present depth 29 ft. " #20 Junk to bed-rock Total depth 29 ft. " #21 Sunk 22 ft. Present depth 93 ft. " #22 Location _ Near N. W. corner of Lot No. 120. Started Nov. 28. Present depth 20 ft. " #23 Location _ Near N. E. corner of Lot No. 161. Started Dec. 3. Present depth 13 ft. " #24 Location _ 500 ft. north of N. W. corner of Lot No. 154 Started Nov. 28. Present depth 20 ft. " #25 Location _ Near north side of Lot No. 1. Started Nov. 30. Present depth 16 ft. The sinking of shaft #16 was discontinued because we considered further sinking useless as the value of the gravel was only running one and nine tenths cents. We should like to know whether you wish us to sink this shaft and any other, under similar circumstances, to bed-rock regardless of the value of the gravel. We have done no experimental work in the mill owing to the fact that the prospects of finding workable ground here is so poor. <Put in my box marked Only in Library> [TAE Marginalia] We enclose on a separate sheet the value of the shafts so far as prospected. Yours truly, Cloyd M. Chapman. John V Miller
