[TAE Marginalia] <Johnny make out an order + have records sent express E> Dec 22 Port Huron My dearest and best uncle I want to thank you for all you have done for me these past years and he months check which I secure from you [illegible] to date. It keeps the wolf from the door and keeps us warm in this little spirit at the foot of Lake Huron. I have been sick so long that I have not thanked you for the phonograph you sent me. It is the greatest amusement I have and forget my pain when listening to the lovely music. I wish I could always wind it but it runs down so soon, every other piece. The records crack earl I think on account of the moisture from the river and very cold weather. My dear uncle will you send me these few pieces for Christmas day as I am sick in bed having had eight absences on my feet. Oh if I knew what I do now I would never left my father and mother. I wish you yours a Merry Christmas + Happy New Year and may all that is sweet + lovely be yours always.
