Letterhead of Morris Electric Company, 15 Cortland St., New York, April 9, 1902. Mr. Thomas A. Edison, Orange, N. J. My dear Edison: I was just talking to Batchelor and he told me of your recent return. About a month ago I wrote you a letter which was acknowledged by Mr. Randolph, relative to my obtaining control of the old "grasshopper" patents. Bachelor seemed to agree with me this morning that these would be a good basis, or club to use on an American Marconi system. My relations with Mr. Crowell and Mr. Halliday, the executors for the Doctor, have always remained very close. Two years ago they offered to put all of their patents in my hands for $15,000.00 and would, no doubt, take less now. Is there anything in this and shall I get hold of these patents? Sincerely yours, W. F. Brewster To above address <Answered Apr 17 - 1902> <E> [TAE Marginalia]
