J.F. Randolph, Esq.,
Edison Laboratory,
Orange, N.J.
Dear Sir:
I have received the following letter, dated July 1st. from T.H. Pindell, Superintendent of the Erie R.R. Co."
"Beginning with midnight last night mileage on cars cease and par diem went went into effect. This means a great deal to us and I write to ask if you will not see that all foreign cars placed on your switch are unloaded and released promptly. Kindly write me if you will do this."
I have of course written Mr. Pindell that we would of course be very glad to use the utmost expedition in unloading cars. I wish to say to you that the greatest delay in this direction rests with cars that contain Laboratory material, particularly coal. These are not unloaded promptly, and of course all coal comes in foreign cars. Will you please make necessary arrangements to have your coal unloaded promptly hereafter.
The Erie R.R. people are very accommodating to us and it is to the interest of all that we do everything possible to reciprocate.
Yours very truly
