Letterhead of Pilling & Crane Broad & Chestnut Streets Philadelphia February 7, 1903. Mr. Thomas A. Edison, Orange, N. J. My dear Mr. Edison: You will remember some time ago I spoke to you about a phonograph for Bishop Moore, to be taken by him to China. You said that you would get Mr. Gilmore to forward one if I would send you the address. On thinking it over, I hardly feel like asking you to do this at your expense, although you spoke at the time of sending it in Mr. Edison's name. However, aside from this, I am anxious that Bishop Moore shall have a phonograph of China, and he wants quite a number of blank records to be used in that country in addition to an assortment of records already filled. Bishop Moore returns to China early next month. His address is David S. Moore, San Francisco, c/o Steamer "Siberia." Yours very truly, WS Pilling W. S. P. <[illegible marginalia]> [TAE Marginalia]
