Newark N.J. Sept. 23rd 1903
Mr. Thomas A. Edison,
Llewellyn Park,
West Orange, N.J.
Dear Mr. Edison:- Your kind favor handed to me by Mr. Upton was very much appreciated, and I will look out for any men who may apply to us from your West Orange Works. I sincerely trust that you will not hesitate to call on me should you find that I can render you any assistance in the matter of handling these strikers, or conferring with your associates with the view of breaking up the strike at an early date.
I suggested to Mr. Upton that he take up the question with you of joining the National Metal Trades Association, which is an organization established among manufacturers in the metal trades, for just such emergencies as you are now laboring under. I gave Mr. Upton some literature, which he no doubt will hand you in due season.
With kind regards, I remain-
Yours very truly,
Fred A. Scheffler
