Title
[D7941ZDI], Letter from Edward Hibberd Johnson to Thomas Alva Edison, August 5th, 1879
Editor's Notes
New phosphate chalks "utterly dumb" this morning. Old caustic soda worked fine; when replaced with new phosphate & moistened with half dilute solution, worked OK. Why? Wearing away non-conduc skin? New telephones delivered tomorrow. Hopes they work without being moistened; "you can bet your life if there is any possibility of their doing so I'll get it out of them before I resort to my chemical pot."
