Title
[D7941ZGO], Letter from Edward Hibberd Johnson to Charles Batchelor, October 21st, 1879
Editor's Notes
New receivers no good; dried out irremedially in shipping. Previous batch could be revived. "Take a 75 hour pull on this thing or neither you or I will ever be the `Bloated Bondholders'" you talk about." Got TAE's inquiry about thorite & put in hands of good party. Reiff in Paris supervising embalming of Charley. "The unfruitful soil of dissipation" killed Adams and helped kill Charley-- too young to be here alone. Acted as intermediary in Gouraud's negot with London Co. re district Cos; outlines terms. Gouraud agreement with EHJ still not ready. He and Reiff think Gouraud irrevocable power not necessary; should perhaps be subject to EHJ's oversight. Private PS to Batch: think irrevocable power not advisable. Gouruad misrepresented its importance for getting London money. Would also insult London board, who count on TAE's personal participation in Co.
