Title
[D8048P], Letter from Enos M Barton to Thomas Alva Edison, February 5th, 1880
Editor's Notes
Telephone business not as bad as it could be. Bailey still fighting for telephone; has 80 subscribers, 15 connected in exchange. Other parties have more subscribers and money, but not exchanges or equipment to set them up. Wires must go underground, where Edison instruments have advantage over Gower & Blake. Uncertain of merit of starting large shop here now. Thinks fusion failed because bankers got jealous of each other; not Bailey's fault. Bailey's chances are good if he can hang on for a few weeks.
