Title
[D8048ZHN] Letter, c. 1880
Editor's Notes
Jenty rcd your wire & letter about Edison business. French tel negotiations; parties dealing with Jenty also dealing with other parties. They want immediate cash, not regular exploitation. Scarcely 40 subscribers remained of the 300 or 400. Post office dept becoming obstinate; will take control of telephone as annexation of telegraph. "I have convinced myself that, there are, in Paris, five or six individuals able to show powers more or less extvensive, either from Edison himself, or from people who claim to have received from him grants of this or that part of his rights; with this cross-fire of agents, one knows not what he can do."
