- Wasn't aware of your apparent acceptance of Bouverie plan, or of your 28 Jan letter to EHJ. I have accepted concessions because you seem anxious to have them. Think better to abandon district plan because of Bell competition & PO opposition provided London Co is strong enough for the whole business. Have obliged London Co to amalgamate with Glasgow & assume debts. New arrangement will be to our interest. Bell Co expanded faster than us because of advantages of their receiver: "the loudness of ours does not seem to counterbalance with the public the disadvantage of turning the crank."
