Title
[D8101A], Letter from Sigmund Bergmann to Thomas Alva Edison, January 8th, 1881
Editor's Notes
Blake transmitters. Transmiters recently sent to United Co great improvements over the originals. Hears much praise for their clearness, not having to speak close to them "and it is impossible to find anyone to say a good [word] for our old carbon transmitter. Now this thing wants looking into." Possible to alter carbon button form so mouth doesn't have to be so close? Can't compete as it is with, unless Edison form is only one to survive wear & tear, which doesn't seem to be the case. We can claim that all forms of carbon trans are covered by TAE patent but can't lage behind in making improvements. Johnson proposed improved mouthpiece, which he will explain to you.
