- Inspected driftway as far as possible; in very good condition. Pump will probabably have to be lowered again. Met with Metuchen old-timer who helped pump out mine approx 60 years ago prior to its abandonment. Mine was abandoned because horsepower couldn't keep it dry. Suggest starting work on outside shaft, where oldtimers say most productive work was, while continuing to work on inner shaft---what do you think?
