Title
[D8149ZAA], Letter from George Edward Gouraud to Thomas Alva Edison, July 30th, 1881
Editor's Notes
Got your cables. 29 July: "European light at seventy. You better buy some through Drexels. 30 July: "Send balance reversionary. Shall I buy European Light joint account?" to which I today reply "Drexels pay balance. Explain fully suggested purchase European light." Did you mistake "light" for "telephone" or do you know of boom in European light? Don't know what that Co is. Mr. Grigg will send balance (telephone?) today; had trouble determining it due to "unavoidable haste with which Insull left at the end." Your acct with Drexel shows c. 2,216 pounds to your credit, including division of United Tel. stock. Discusses further components of account----confusing.
