Title
[D8220ZAU], Letter from Francis Robbins Upton to Thomas Alva Edison, November 13th, 1882
Editor's Notes
"I read in the defect book a complaint regarding small machines." Thinks it might work to give a reversed current and this would end commutator troubles. "Permanent magnets could be used and regulation could be made by introducing resistance in main line or by changing the strength of the magnets by a movable portion. Such a machine using low volt B lamps would be just the thing for out of the way plants as there would be no wear on brush or commutator."
