- Howland stopped the Herald plant this AM and ordered gas plant started up. Cabled Bennett in Paris: "Will connect you with Pearl street station by street mains and furnish light next week if present plant continued to run at our expense meantime. Price of light and terms as to old plant guaranteed to satisfiy you. Stopping now serious injury to me." Howland won't say why plant is stopped; doesn't know what Bennett's reasons are. Total cost of Herald plant is $22.7K; Bennett already paid $15K. poss select: problems with iso plants, newspaper publicity. dh 24oct02
