Iso Co complaining abt getting old Z dynamos. "It is the same old story. I tell the Isolated people that under all the circumstances they had better thake them, although I do not justify Dean in his poor workmanship." Re Bergmann's prices: Johnson says that Bergmann "has no system whatever of making charges, and charges enormous profits on some things and no profit at all on others, without judgement and without reason." Ill. Co. expenses at Menlo. Fire in Phila caused by Maxim system. South Carolina people have decided to install United States system b/c offers both arc and incandescent. At Merrick Mills, Holyoke, lamps burning for 722 hours w/only 5 burnt out, out of 95 total. Michels' article and dealings w/ NY Tribune. Shld let Johnson go to Canada and speak to Scientific Society; they don't know much abt our system there. TAE must have his house inspected, for insurance purposes.
