Title
[D8238ZBC], Letter from Sigismund Von Kleist to Thomas Alva Edison, May 7th, 1882
Editor's Notes
[from Berlin] Sorry for writing to you personally, but have not gotten acknowledgment elsewhere. Attended Paris exhibition as reporter for several of the first German newspapers; published several articles. Learned from Bailey your intention to introduce Light through Europe; B solicited my support for Germany and made me great promises. Spent month in Paris. Waited for formation of Paris Co and then expected to get my orders, passing up other offers in meantime. Waited, and waited, and waited. Applied to Co. for indemnity for lost opportunities. Got some vague agreement of business in Berlin he refers to co. Now asks TAE for indemnification for loss and disappointment. As proof of credibility, sending some of his correspondence. PS list of Berlin establishments lighted through his referral.
