- Title
- [D8238ZFC1], Memorandum, Compagnie Continentale Edison, December 23rd, 1882
- Editor's Notes
- Unsigned memorandum re: price of gas/Elight in Germany. Quotes TAE from NY World : "Neither the production nor the sale of electricity for lighting will be a competition to gas, at all events not more than petroleum, the price of the electric light being higher than gas. We charge 1 1/16 cents for 10 candle-lights an hour. Electric light is about 1/3 higher & our customers pay 1/3 more for electric lights than for gas." Notes that retail gas in US about twice the cost as in Germany. Notes that even at current price it is not yet known if Pearl St will be able to make profit.
