- [from London] Enclose papers from Hopkinson [follow as 8248R-V]. He had ERwy brushes, reversing current, etc, a year ahead of Field and Hussey but Pat Offc rejected him on their account. Thinks he can establish priority over them and "has laid the whole thing in my hands to do with as I may think fit. It has occurred to me that possibly this may be of importance to you." Assume if it's valuable you will help him fight. PS Dyer's digest at hand--very valuable--Bidwell will give us his opinion. Provisionally negotiated 6% royalty with Siemens, pending Bidwell's report. "We all look upon this as a grand achievement as it is our only weak point & as the patent hasn't long to run we shall probably never pay him very much."
