- Title
- [D8320P1], Report from John A Winebrenner, June 5th, 1883
- Editor's Notes
- "On some proposed ways whereby the Efficiency of the Incandescent Electric Lamp may be improved." "We may regard this lamp as a 'Light Engine,' whose office is to transfer motion into light, and its 'Dynamic Efficiency' is measured..by the yield in candlepower" per HP. And "its longevity, relative to its first cost, constitutes another and distinct efficiency, which may be called its 'Mechanical Efficiency'.." Proposes using 3 filaments arranged at 60deg spacing, instead of 1 filament. Includes sketch and explanatory calculations. Also discussion of using alternative forms of graphite and carbon for the filaments.
