- Editor's Notes
- [SELECTABLE, or at least refer to this] In my Fianancial statement to the Director of June 6th. I stated that the expenses of the engineering department at the rate $35,000 a year or nearly $3,000 a month. Those expenses have now been down more one half are only about $1200 a month for wages. List of wages for Clarke, Solden, Atkins (blue prints), Dodge and Burnham. Also for workers at Menlo, most of which can be charged to customers: Claudius, Gmur, Anderson, Bengston, Burnett, Andrews, Van Clief. With some misc expenses, the expenses of the department are to day cut down over half. Edison Laboratory Expenses: summarized. Had been at rate of $40,000/year, now "greatly reduced" to $103/week If we keep down patent fees, legal expenses, etc and not give any new retainers we can keep expenses below receipts. Most important thing now is to wipe out the debt of the Light Co. debt to the Isolated Co. which amounts to 30,000.
