[D8337ZFI], Letter from Charles Batchelor to Samuel Insull, November 4th, 1883

Editor's Notes

Your telegram on original stock flabbergasted me I should not like to sell that. Can you sell for me the Isolated Stock I have from factory, or is it to be locked up? # I had Bailey telegraph for a man who was used to the Porter and Armington engines -don’t fail to send the man immediately; have taken Porter engine from Milan and an A&S for the Nice exposition. There's not a man in France that ever saw one I found out why Arrmington never came near me about the engine. They sent me the patterns and when Cunningham was making it Armington came over to me and told Cunnigham to make the regulator different from the patterns so the engine was so made. After weeks of experiment I have found out he told Cunningham wrong and I have had to change it again I have had to endure all kinds of blackguarding on this engine. # Between you and I I don’t think Armington knows some much about his engine. Porges continues to be abusive; complains about low lamp price for Germany and dynamo models. # what are doing at Goerck St. and what models have you got out. Ask TAE what he thinks of a thousand lamp machin e with a wire armature. TAE marginalia " I think well of 1000 wire armature E"
