Title
[D8361ZCQ], Letter from William Symes Andrews to Thomas Alva Edison, August 15th, 1883
Editor's Notes
Rcd yours of yesterday with your statement that with load of 140 lamps "one volt higher at terminals will make the feeders about right." How did you determine this? How can engineer calculate his pressure from the load on the dynamos? Also, how do you estimate load at different times of day? Pressure indicators don't give same readings. "I fear that my pressure will be always an unknown quantity until I get my positiviely standard instrument." TAE marg: "I don't remember any statement about 1 volt higher. I said you [cant?] figure it yourself."
