Title
[D8369E], Letter from John F Ott to Thomas Alva Edison, April 20th, 1883
Editor's Notes
Laboratory report. Tested small motor up to 4466rpm. "I also tested lamps on pumps and found the contact not sufficient in clamps and scarecely know how to improve the contact as the fibers are made of six fibers and the moment you bring pressure to bear on them they will shift and break or crumble while that of the bamboo being one fiber, and will stand more strain. Also tried bamboo that stood very well until I reached 50 candlepower then one clamp melted but the fiber was still good until it finally gave out."
