- [D8416BJM], Letter from Samuel Insull to Edison Machine Works, Gustav Soldan, April 22nd, 1884
- Editor's Notes
- "Ernest informs me that you would like to have an order for a dozen of each kind of switchboard, and brush-holders, in order to enable you to keep certain men at the Works. Our policy is to shut down the shop, and dispense with every class of labor possible as soon as we get through with our work. To give the order referred to, simply means to continue a heavy general expense so far as I can see. I think it would be well for you to come up and see Mr. Edison and myself about this matter." Also, how about going to Syracuse to see Straight Line engine.
