- Title
- [D8427I], Letter from Anthony J Thomas to Thomas Alva Edison, January 29th, 1884
- Editor's Notes
- a circular letter from Anthony Thomas, apparently a stockholder, regarding reorganizing EELCo, Isolated, and NY Ill Co and "all outside manufacturing companies controlled by any of our own people" into a single company; concerned that manufacturing interests are by their nature antagonistic as outside firms; make a new contract with Edison, notes that investors "have advanced nearly two millions of dollars to enable him to make very costly experiments, and thereby complete his inventions through which he has earned and gained an imperishable fame." Need to reduce cost of wiring, which is now 30 4 times that of gas piping and more competition amongst suppliers is needed; faith in Edison light is stronger than ever but need to make it a financial success through better efficiencies
