- Editor's Notes
- Sends plan and specifications for plant at Vina del Mar (a rapidly growing suburb for merchants of Valparaiso Chile). "To consist of 400 10 candle lamps with a building large enough to double the plant when required. Can raise 11,000-15,000 gold if necessary, exclusive of fixtures, which will be ordered by mail at an early date. ## The hotel will have 200 lamps, of which 100 burn every night at one time. It is therefore best to have the station located near that building, as indicated on the plan at the point marked ‘Preferred Location' If Mr Wirt is not already getting posted on Village work, please let him start, or if not him, someone else. ## A good plant at Vina del Mar will greatly aid us in Valpraiso, where I am making great progress. The canvass and map is now being made, & I think a 2000 light station can be easily managed. ## I am working hard for an isolated job in the Church of the Recoleta Dominica, the finest in South America/ They have plenty of water power and plenty of cash. & will will spend at least 20,000 gold if they get started. The marble columns in this church were imported from Italy at a cost of more than 150,000 gold. 300 or more lamps will be needed."
