Title
[D8461K], Letter from Augustus Ledyard Smith to Thomas Alva Edison, April 14th, 1884
Editor's Notes
Undoubtedly won't be able to pay for new Appleton plant. Had understood from Tate and also Chicago people that our existing wires & dynamos could be used, but now see we'd have to start de novo, throwing away $1,200. Can't we at least exchange the used K machines? What we're doing now pays well enough so we'll keep going with our two plants. How about increasing efficiency? New houses want light--have promised them.
