- Title
- [D8461K], Letter from Augustus Ledyard Smith to Thomas Alva Edison, April 14th, 1884
- Editor's Notes
- Undoubtedly won't be able to pay for new Appleton plant. Had understood from Tate and also Chicago people that our existing wires & dynamos could be used, but now see we'd have to start de novo, throwing away $1,200. Can't we at least exchange the used K machines? What we're doing now pays well enough so we'll keep going with our two plants. How about increasing efficiency? New houses want light--have promised them.
