- Title
- [D8503ZAX], Letter from New York World, John R Reavis to Thomas Alva Edison, June 15th, 1885
- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead of The World.] Acknowledging TAE's aid in making up the last $25,000 of the fund for the completion of the Bartholdi Statue Pedestal [the Statue of Liberty; see D8503ZAW---TAE likely contributed $250]. Asks that if TAE knows of the names of two or three other gentlemen who would be willing to also contribute, they would appreciate if he would use his influence to help them finish the fundraising work "this week, while Mr. {------} guests are here, with the ship that brings us the Statue." TAE Marg: "Dr.{?}--if you don't feel too poor here is a chance for a little patriotism. ##Edison"
