- Editor's Notes
- [Letterhead of German American Insurance Co., crossed out.] Received from TAE a check for amount due through the rest of this month and a statement that in the future, the $5 per month will be discontinued. You remember the letter you wrote me, dictated by TAE, that I would receive $5 per month as long as I kept W.U. [Western Union?] office hours. But aside from that, don't you think it is worth $5 per month to restamp, change addresses, reregister, and sometimes relabel TAE's mail? The Postal Law says if a letter or registered letter is not taken out of the Post Office where addressed, it can be remailed without extra stamps--but if it is taken out, it needs new stamps. "None of such letters have ever been restamped since I have been employed to redirect them, saving perhaps much more than the amount paid me." P.S. "Business is very dull here; if it was better, [I] would not ask this favor."
