Title
[D8503ZEO], Letter from John Farrell to Thomas Alva Edison, December 23rd, 1885
Editor's Notes
[Letterhead of Hoffman House.] "Mr. M. Brady, artist of Washington, one of your earliest converts of your magic powers and who was honored with your patronage and [--------] years past in that city, is at present there in very great distress with an invalid paralyzed wife, at the very point of death." He forwarded a portrait of General McClellan for sale. His friends have formed a committee to raffle the portrait for his benefit "at this festive Christmas time." I am instructed to wait upon you with 20 tickets amounting to $10 in hopes of your generous patronage to this charitable cause.
