- Editor's Notes
- May interest you to know that the municipal government of Washington "continues to trifle" with the subject of lighting the streets and public buildings. Instead of purchasing a suitable plant, they permit all sorts of experiments with arc lights mounted on the Washington Monument, the Dome of the Capitol, and on gallows and frames in public squares. The city newspapers are disgusted with the mismanagement and so express themselves; I have sent some examples. The Senate and House Committees on Public Buildings and Grounds have ultimate control and will take up the subject eventually. I hope they will adopt your system. P.S. Have you heard anything from Capt. A.P. Binkeiro{?}, the Brazilian officer who was here some time ago looking into electric lighting?
