- Title
- [D8546ZCT], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Thomas Alva Edison, December 9th, 1885
- Editor's Notes
- [LETTERHEAD: Rossin House, Toronto] Long letter detailing results of phonoplex experiments over telegraph line #8 between Toronto and Port Hope (63 miles). "I wired you last night stating that new instrument worked splendidly." Tate has connected an extra relay and put condensers around it as per TAE's instructions. Rain effects the morse lines. No trouble from induction, but still needs to discover the source of interference from one morse line. Directs TAE's attention to sketches of lines sent previously. Did not see Dwight this morning, but will see him today and illustrate the system. Much more technical description and information.
