- Title
- [D8546ZDN], Letter from Alfred Ord Tate to Thomas Alva Edison, December 28th, 1885
- Editor's Notes
- Has TAE's letter of the 23rd; was about to write re: breaking the circuit between Toronto and Montreal as TAE suggested; system is tested to Prescott, 225 miles, and sound comes as clearly as from Port Hope but not as loud; would like to test further distance, but Dwight is impatient to establish a line for actual business; Tate suggests installing plant to duplicate circuit to Kingston in order to test for commercial practicality; Dwight will then want extension to Montreal, creating a system of three separate circuits; says wired TAE today for equipment for important Cobourg office; needs 8 more condensers; will see U.S. consul about returning unused equipment to U.S. duty-free; will "post" a Great North Western inspector, so that he may be able to install system should Dwight require additional lines.
